BGMEA President attends ILO Panel discussion on gender equality

The International Labour Organization (ILO) organized a panel discussion on 8 March, marking the International Women Day 2021.

With Guy Ryder, ILO Director-General; Ms. Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, Prime Minister of Namibia; Ms. Yolanda Díaz Pérez, Minister of Labour and Social Economy of Spain; and Ms. Cécilia Merchán, State Secretary of Equality and Diversity Policies, Ministry of Women, Genders and Diversity of Argentina, as a co-panelist BGMEA President Dr. Rubana Huq addressed the dicussion on countering the regressive impact of COVID-19 on gender equality.

In her address, BGMEA President Dr. Rubana Huq shared how businesses can support women workers, enhance their retention, and reap the benefits of gender and diversity during times of crises.

The speakers emphasized the actions needed to support the role of women as agents of change towards a human-centred path to a more equal world of work in the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
