On 30 October 2025, under the initiative of BGMEA and supervised by Director Faisal Samad, the Chairman of the Airport Committee, Nisar Khan, and the Chairman of the Public Relations & Promotion Committee, Masud Kabir, visited the cargo village at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport damaged by a recent fire.
During the inspection, they toured the temporary sheds under construction at the cargo village, built with the assistance of BGMEA, and discussed processes to expedite the clearance of goods. Although the temporary sheds may take another 4–5 days to complete, goods left outside the sheds remain unprotected and at risk of damage due to rain. The airport authorities were informed of this issue and assured that necessary measures would be taken.
Also present during the visit were Shakil Miraj, Director (Cargo) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and other senior officials.
Additionally, it was proposed to the BGMEA Board to call an urgent meeting next Saturday with CNF agents and courier service owners to discuss ways to speed up cargo delivery and improve overall operations.
