On 30 September 2025, the first meeting of BGMEA’s Standing Committee on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) was held at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara, Dhaka.
The meeting was attended by BGMEA First Vice President Salim Rahman, Senior Vice President Inamul Haq Khan, Directors Faisal Samad, Kazi Mizanur Rahman, Mohammed Sohel, Md. Shaif Ullah, Chairman of the SME Standing Committee Rubaiyat Ahmed, Chairman of One Stop Cell Mozammel Haque Bhuiyan, Chairman of the Press, Publicity and Publication Committee Masud Kabir, along with entrepreneurs from the SME sector.
During the discussion, SME entrepreneurs elaborated on the challenges they face in running their businesses, particularly regarding banking, customs, bond facilities, and other policy-related complexities. They also put forward proposals and suggestions on what measures could be taken to resolve these issues.
BGMEA leaders reaffirmed that the development of the SME sector is one of the current Board of Directors’ top priorities. They highlighted various initiatives already undertaken and the achievements made for SME growth.
The present Board is working closely with key government bodies such as Bangladesh Bank, the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Customs, Bond, and Port authorities to ensure that SME entrepreneurs can operate their businesses more smoothly and effectively.
