BGMEA Holds Prayer for Rana Plaza Victims

A prayer meeting was held at the BGMEA office in Uttara on 23 April 2026 for the workers who lost their lives in the Rana Plaza Collapse. The event was presided over by BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan. Prayers were offered seeking eternal peace for the departed souls and speedy recovery of the injured.

The prayer session was attended by First Vice President Salim Rahman, Senior Vice President Inamul Haq Khan, Vice Presidents Md. Rezwan Selim, Mijanur Rahman, Vidiya Amrit Khan, Md. Shehab Udduza Chowdhury; Directors Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Faisal Samad, Md. Hasib Uddin, Nafis-Ud-Doula, Mrs. Sumaiya Islam, Fahima Akhter, Majumdar Arifur Rahman, Sheikh Hossain Muhammad Mustafiz, Joarder Mohammed Hosne Quamar Alam, Rumana Rashid, Mohammed Sohel, Samiha Azim, along with chairpersons of various standing committees and general members.

At the beginning of the program, President Mahmud Hasan Khan stated that the Rana Plaza tragedy was not just an accident; it was a wake-up call for the entire apparel industry. Over the past decade, Bangladesh’s RMG sector has undergone a remarkable transformation and is now recognized globally as one of the safest and most environmentally sustainable industries. He credited this progress to the collective efforts of workers, entrepreneurs, and both international and local stakeholders.
