The RMG industry needs support in ICT to realize the vision of reaching $50 billion of RMG exports by 2021, BGMEA President Md. Atiqul Islam said at a seminar on “ICT for better manageability in Private Sector” held at Bangabandhu International Center in Dhaka on February 11.
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, and Senior Secretary of the Commerce Ministry Hedayetullah Al Mamoon, ndc, among others, took part in the discussion.
The BGMEA President said that currently around 40,000 people are working in IT department in the readymade garment sector of Bangladesh and there is a scope to employ more people in IT department of the industry.
He expressed his interest to work together with Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) to improve the productivity of the industry by the optimum use of technology.
Md. Atiqul Islam also said that if Bangladesh has huge potential for earning foreign exchange by exporting software if it can train its human resource.
