On September 10, 2025, a meeting of the committee formed to revise the Fire Prevention and Extinguishing Regulations was held at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
BGMEA was represented by M.A. Khan Jewel, Chairman of BGMEA’s Standing Committee on Fire, Electrical, and Structural Safety-1.
During the meeting, he presented proposals to revise certain sections of the regulations in line with current realities. He particularly requested careful consideration for provisions that are difficult to fully implement in small and medium-sized factories.
Additionally, he recommended that fire license issuance and renewal fees be capped at a maximum of 15,000–20,000 BDT and that other related fees be kept at a reasonable level.
