Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) is constructing a 150-bed hospital for the readymade garment (RMG) workers at city’s Mirpur, which is expected to be ready by next eighteen months. Prime Minister’s adviser on health, family planning and social welfare affairs Dr Syed Modasser Ali formally inaugurated the construction work of the hospital today (Saturday) through a function at BGMEA Bhaban in the city.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, M Israfil Alam MP, BGMEA first vice president Nasir Uddin Chowdhury and its second vice president M Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin were present at the function, chaired by BGMEA president Abdus Salam Murshedy.
BGMEA officials said the hospital would have all required modern facilities and departments including emergency unit.
Approximately Tk 25 crore has been estimated for the construction of the 150-bed hospital and it will be later converted into a 250-bed hospital.
