A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Grihayan Tahobil and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) at the Bangladesh Bank headquarters on November 11 for loan sanction to construct dormitories of the RMG workers.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith attended the MoU signing ceremony as chief guest while Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Atiur Rahman as special guest.
BGMEA President Md. Atiqul Islam presided over the program.
According to the MoU condition, listed members of BGMEA will be given housing loan to construct dormitories for RMG workers.
The fund size of Grihayan Tahobil stood at Tk 327 crore, said Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Atiur Rahman.
BGMEA President Md. Atiqul Islam said apparel industry experienced negative growth in current fiscal year due to increase of production cost.
He urged the government to reduce lending rate and to extend time of relaxed loan reschedule policy for apparel industry.
Reaz Bin Mahmood, Vice President (Finance), BGMEA, and Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Executive Director, Bangladesh Bank signed a MoU on behalf of their respective organizations at Bangladesh Bank head office in Dhaka on November 11.
