The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and BRAC University (BRACU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the collection of credible and comprehensive data about the RMG industry and prepare a publicly accessible interactive online map of the industry.
Md. Siddiqur Rahman, President, BGMEA, and Professor Rahim B. Talukdar, Adviser, Centre for Entrepreneur Development (CED), BRAC University inked the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations while Shantanu Singh, Unit Leader, General Manager, C&A Sourcing, Bangladesh was present as the representative of the C&A Foundation.
BGMEA Senior Vice President Faruque Hassan, Vice President (Finance) Mohammed Nasir, Vice President Ferdous Perves Bivon and Director Munir Hossain were also present at the MoU signing ceremony held at BGMEA conference room on 15 December.
The digital mapping program will be implemented by the CED, BRAC University, coordinated by BRAC USA with lead funding from the C&A Foundation and anticipated additional co-funders.
The objective of this program is to provide accurate, credible and updated RMG factory information to industry stakeholders in a manner that enhances confidence in the ability of the sector to contribute to equitable development in Bangladesh.
