BGMEA President Faruque Hassan said Bangladesh’s RMG industry has earned global praise not only for its impressive achievements in workplace safety but also for making remarkable progress in developing industrial relations and ensuring workers’ rights and wellbeing.
“We have to carry forward the achievements that we have made in developing sound relations between the employers and workers through effective engagement and discussions so that the RMG industry could keep the growth momentum going,” he said.
The Industrial Police has been playing a significant role in maintaining harmonious industrial relations between owners and workers of garment factories, he said while speaking at a view exchange meeting between BGMEA and Industrial Police at BGMEA office at Uttara, Dhaka on September 1.
MD. Mahabubor Rahman, BPM, PPM, Additional Inspector General of Police represented the Industrial Police in the meeting.
Faruque Hassan thanked the Industrial Police for providing support and cooperation to the RMG industry through maintaining law and order situations and assuring security and a peaceful atmosphere in the garment sector.
Peaceful atmosphere in industrial zones is a prerequisite for fostering industrial growth, he added.
He expressed hope the Industrial Police would continue its support to the industry.
