Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan has asked the readymade garment (RMG) unit owners to ensure safe workplace for the workers and stand beside the fire victims.
The minister was speaking at a workshop on 'Multi- Stakeholder Meeting on Fire Prevention in RMG Sector,' jointly organised by Bangladesh Garment Manu-facturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Bangladesh National Council (BNC) of Textile, Garment and Leather Workers at the BGMEA head office in the city Sunday.
Shajahan Khan was present as the chief guest in the programme which was presided over by BGMEA President Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin.

Shajahan Khan said fire accidents in the RMG sector have increased with the pace of the expansion of the industry in Bangladesh.
He said, "We are working with the BGMEA for preventing fire accidents in the biggest foreign currency earning sector and we also give necessary support to it and train up the people."
He told the garment unit owners to ensure safe workplace for the RMG workers and stand beside the victims.
