A national seminar on ‘Ensure Employment Rights and Disabled Friendly Working Environment for Persons with Disabilities’ was held at BGMEA conference room on 15 December.
Disabled Child Foundation (DCF) and National Council of Disabled Women (NCDW) with support of Disability Rights Fund (DRF) organized the discussion.
BGMEA President Md. Siddiqur Rahman attended the seminar as Chief Guest.
In his address the BGMEA President said that Bangladesh has achieved impressive socio-economic development in the last 45 years after independence and the country has both opportunities and vision of more economic growth.
Persons with disabilities have the abilities to contribute to the desired development of Bangladesh and for that they should be included in the mainstream economy, he added.
Md. Siddiqur Rhaman said that the RMG industry has created employment for many people with disabilities. However, he said, inclusion of people with disabilities in the economic activities is a national issue and it should be addressed collectively.
Albert Mollah, Executive Director, Access Bangladesh, made a presentation on the employment rights and favorable working environment for people with disabilities.
Naaz Farhana Ahmed, President, Dhaka Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry was present as Special Guest and Nasrin Jahan, Executive Director, DCF gave the closing remarks at the seminar.
