A workshop on validation of competency standards for the RMG and textile sector was held at the Apparel Club on 28 October.
A sub-committee formed by the Bangladesh Technical Education Board formulated the competency standards for three trades -- sewing supervising, sewing machine maintenance and industrial engineering after consultation with the stakeholders in the RMG and textile industry as there was no standards at the national level to measure competency of workers and employees.
Mostafizur Rahman, Chairman, Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB), attended the program as chief guest.
Mohammed Nasir, Chairperson of RMG and Textile Industry Skills Council (RTISC), chaired the workshop.
The competency standards will be published for use in skills trainings after getting approval from ISC in accordance with National Quality Assurance System Manual.
SM Shahjahan, Deputy Director (Course Accreditation), BTEB, and the RTISC Board of Directors were also present at the workshop.
