The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), in collaboration with the World Bank-funded Accelerating and Strengthening Skills for Economic Transformation (ASSET) Project, organised the BGMEA Enterprise-Based Training (EBT) Implementation Progress Review Workshop and Certificate Award Ceremony to foster skilled human resources, ensure sustainable growth, and expand employment opportunities in Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) industry.
The programme was held on 25 July 2026 at the Exhibition Hall of the BGMEA Complex in Uttara, Dhaka. Mr. Md. Daud Mia, NDC, Secretary of the Technical and Madrasah Education Division under the Ministry of Education, attended the event as the Chief Guest. The programme was chaired by BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan.
Under the ASSET Project, implemented by the Directorate of Technical Education under the Technical and Madrasah Education Division of the Ministry of Education, BGMEA has been successfully implementing the Enterprise-Based Training (EBT) programme in the garment industry. The initiative aims to develop a skilled workforce through industry-led, demand-driven training and enhance productivity across the sector.
Under the joint BGMEA-ASSET Enterprise-Based Training (EBT) programme, a total of 4,632 trainees have been enrolled through 193 batches across three training cycles. During the ceremony, certificates were awarded to 2,328 trainees from 97 batches of the second and third cycles. Meanwhile, the fourth cycle, comprising 96 batches, is currently underway.
Special Guests at the programme included Abul Khayer Md. Akkas Ali, Director General (Additional Secretary), Directorate of Technical Education; Shamsur Rahman Khan, Additional Secretary (Development Wing), Technical and Madrasah Education Division; Mir Jahid Hasan, Project Director (Additional Secretary), ASSET Project; and Professor Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT).
Among others, BGMEA Director Nafis-Ud-Doula and representatives of the Skills Development Programme attended the event. The welcome address was delivered by Jabed Hossain Bhuiyan, Chairman of the BGMEA Skill Development Committee.
