A delegation from the Greener Garments Initiative (GGI) and SOLshare met with BGMEA Vice President Ms. Vidiya Amrit Khan on 25 November 2025 at BGMEA to discuss potential collaboration on advancing decarbonization across Bangladesh’s RMG sector.
GGI, an Energy Service Company (ESCO) established by SOLshare and Heartland (BESTSELLER), and supported by OneTrueValue (OTV) and the ORE Fund, is working to scale clean energy and climate-smart solutions for garment manufacturers in South Asia.
The discussion focused on supporting the RMG industry’s decarbonization roadmap, sustainable energy adoption, and long-term climate resilience.
During the discussion, Vice President Vidiya Amrit Khan emphasized BGMEA’s strong commitment to driving a low-carbon transition, noting that strengthening energy efficiency, expanding access to clean energy, and embedding decarbonization within factory operations, especially supporting the SME factories are essential steps for ensuring the future competitiveness and climate resilience of Bangladesh’s apparel industry.
BGMEA appreciated the initiative from GGI and SOLshare and expressed interest in exploring collaborative pathways to support the sector’s low carbon transformation.
