The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) organized a reception on 26 February 2026 (Thursday) in honour of the Members of Parliament elected from the apparel industry in the 13th National Parliamentary Election. The reception was held at the Golf Garden of the Army Golf Club in the capital, followed by an Iftar and Doa Mahfil.
The reception, presided over by BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan, was attended by Md. Shahadat Hossain, MP (Lakshmipur-1); Md. Abdullah, MP (Munshiganj-1); Md. Lutfor Rahman, MP (Tangail-4); Md. Abul Kalam, MP (Cumilla-9); Md. Khaled Hossain Mahboob, MP (Brahmanbaria-3); and Ershad Ullah, MP (Chattogram-8).
Also present were State Minister for the Ministry of Commerce Md. Shariful Alam, MP; State Minister for the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Ahmed Sohel Monjur, MP; and Adviser to the Hon’ble Prime Minister (in charge of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, and Ministry of Labour and Employment) Mahadi Amin. BGMEA office bearers, members of the Board of Directors, general members, distinguished business leaders, and representatives of the media were also in attendance.
At the beginning of the program, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan welcomed the Hon’ble Members of Parliament, State Ministers, and Adviser with flowers and crests on the stage.
In his speech, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan warmly congratulated the Hon’ble Members of Parliament, stating that the victory of members of the apparel industry family is a victory for the entire sector. He expressed hope that when the Hon’ble MPs raise issues and development activities of their respective constituencies in the august Parliament, they would also speak about the industry and highlight the relentless struggles of apparel entrepreneurs. He noted that the newly elected MPs would play an important role at the policy-making level in the National Parliament as strong voices of the apparel industry.
He further expressed optimism that the Hon’ble MPs would contribute to export diversification, ease of doing business, reduction of the cost of doing business, and above all, ensure fair solutions in the greater interest of the economy.
Among the Hon’ble MPs, former BGMEA Vice President Md. Lutfor Rahman, MP, delivered remarks at the event. He stated that the development of the apparel industry began during the tenure of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. He affirmed that the MPs elected from the apparel sector would take all-out initiatives to further advance the industry and strengthen Bangladesh’s economy.
BGMEA First Vice President Salim Rahman delivered the welcome address. He expressed hope that the experience of the newly elected MPs would assist in formulating industry- and trade-friendly policies in the National Parliament.

Following the reception, a Doa Mahfil was held seeking blessings for the country and its people. The festive program concluded with Iftar.
