BGMEA, in collaboration with UNIDO under the SWITCH to Circular Economy Value Chains project successfully conducted a Fire and Occupational Health & Safety training on 18 August 2026 at Jaalkuri, Narayanganj.

SWITCH2CE, co-funded by the European Union and the Government of Finland, works with EU multinational companies and their suppliers from developing countries to switch to more circular economy approaches and practices in three selected value chains:Plastic Packaging, Textile&Garments, and ICT&Electronics. The session was delivered by BGMEA's Fire, Safety and Compliance Department for representatives from 32 enterprises among 48 participants of local waste handlers — a key step toward formally integrating the informal waste handling sector into the textile circular economy.

This initiative was led by BGMEA's Circular Fashion Unit, which has been driving circularity efforts in the RMG & Textile Value Chain for the past several years, under the strong guidance and leadership of Vice President Ms. Vidiya Amrit Khan.

By equipping textile waste (jhut) handlers with essential health and safety knowledge, BGMEA continues to build a safer, more inclusive, and more sustainable path toward Circular Economy transition in Bangladesh's RMG sector.
