Discussion Held on Timely Payment of Wages, Bonus and Leave Ahead of Eid-Ul-Adha

A discussion meeting was held at the Circuit House Chattogram conference room regarding the timely payment of workers’ wages, festival bonus, and leave in accordance with the Bangladesh Labour Act and Labour Rules, ahead of the upcoming holy Eid-Ul-Adha.

The meeting was attended by the Honorable Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram, Enamul Aziz Chowdhury, Director of BGMEA, respected officials of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments, members of law enforcement agencies, representatives of owners and workers, and distinguished members from various institutions.

Speaking at the meeting, Enamul Aziz Chowdhury emphasized that ensuring the timely payment of workers’ wages, festival bonus, and leave ahead of Eid-Ul-Adha is extremely important. He stated that the real driving force of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment industry is its workers. Through their tireless efforts, dedication, and contribution, the country’s economy continues to grow, and Bangladesh’s position in the global market is becoming stronger.

He further noted that timely payment of wages and bonuses will help maintain stability in industrial areas, increase workers’ comfort and satisfaction, strengthen productivity and the positive image of the industry, and ensure a more orderly Eid travel period and return to workplaces after the holiday.

He also stressed that sincere cooperation from the government, administration, banking sector, port authorities, and all related institutions is crucial in this regard. Through collective efforts, it is possible to ensure a peaceful, safe, and worker-friendly industrial environment.

BGMEA firmly believes that mutual trust, cooperation, and harmony between workers and employers will continue to drive Bangladesh’s garment industry forward in the coming days.
