A discussion titled “Employment Challenges and Future of Industry” was organized jointly by the AMMT Department of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology and the Job Placement & Database Department of SICIP-BGMEA.

The discussion highlighted important issues including the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on workplaces, rapid technological transformation in industries, and the lack of adequately skilled human resources in line with the demands of the global market economy and workplaces. Participants emphasized that preparing young graduates for rapidly changing industries and aligning the education system with real industry requirements is essential.

The event was organized with the aim of developing skilled human resources for the Ready-Made Garment (RMG) and textile industries, where teachers, students, and representatives from leading garment industry organizations participated.

BGMEA Director Majumdar Arifur Rahman attended the event as the Chief Guest. The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Shah-i-Alam, Vice Chancellor of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology.

In his speech as the Guest of Honor, Professor Mostafizul Haque, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Shanto-Mariam University, emphasized the importance of nurturing responsible and ideal citizens by engaging children in practical responsibilities, household activities, and creative development from an early age.

Chief Guest BGMEA Director Majumdar Arifur Rahman said, “If we fail to keep pace with the rapidly changing global market economy and industries, we will gradually fall behind. To avoid this situation, we must immediately enhance our capabilities and adapt ourselves to global changes.”

Among others present at the event were Professor Shishir Kumar Bhattacharya, Dean, Faculty of Fashion Design & Technology; Dr. Parh Mashiur Rahman, Registrar; and Farzana Mita, Associate Professor and Head of the AMMT Department. The session was moderated by Engineer Riyashad Bin Kabir, Associate Professor of the AMMT Department, and Ashfakur Rahman, Project Coordinator.

Heads of Human Resources and other departments from leading industrial organizations also attended the event. The participating organizations included DBL Group, ABA Group, Sonia & Sweater Limited, Debonair Bag & Luggage Limited, Shin Shin Group, Gramtech Knit Dyeing Finishing & Garments Industries Limited, Masco Group, SDS International Limited, Q Collection Private Limited, and Pimki Apparels Limited.
