Country's next development phase depends on industrialization The next phase of Bangladesh's development will hugely depend on industrialization and the government's initiatives of developing infrastructure and enhancing power generation will accelerate the industrial growth in the country. Moreover, the government is setting up industrial zones across the country to facilitate planned industrial growth. Faruque Hassan, President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), made the observations while visiting EPV Thakurgaon Ltd power plant at Gouripur in Thakurgaon on Friday. Faruque Hassan said successful implementation of the project will be a milestone for the growth of the northern part of Bangladesh.

When asked, BGMEA president Faruque Hassan also attested to a shortage of workers in the industry. কাঁচামাল আমদানি: ঋণপত্রের সীমা ফুরিয়ে যাচ্ছে রফতানিকারকদের বস্ত্র ও পোশাক শিল্প মালিকরা বলছেন, কভিড-১৯ মহামারীর প্রভাবে তুলা, কেমিক্যালের পাশাপাশি পরিবহন খরচ বেড়েছে ব্যাপকহারে। এর প্রভাবে কাঁচামাল ক্রয়ে কভিড-পূর্ব সময়ের চেয়ে বেশি বেশি পরিমাণ অর্থ ব্যয় হচ্ছে। ফলে ব্যাক টু ব্যাক ঋণপত্রসীমা দ্রুত ছাড়িয়ে যাচ্ছে রফতানিকারকদের। যার ফলে নতুন ঋণপত্র গ্রহণের পর সর্বোচ্চ সীমা ছাড়িয়ে যাওয়ায় ব্যাক টু ব্যাক ঋণপত্র খোলা নিয়ে প্রতিবন্ধকতায় পড়তে হচ্ছে রফতানিকারকদের। বিজিএমইএ সহসভাপতি শহিদউল্লাহ আজিম বণিক বার্তাকে বলেন, ব্যাক টু ব্যাক এলসির মাধ্যমে কাঁচামাল আমদানির ক্ষেত্রে প্রতিষ্ঠানের ক্রেডিট লিমিট বৃদ্ধির জন্য আমরা সংশ্লিষ্টদের সুপারিশ করেছি।

যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে তৈরি পোশাক রপ্তানিতে বড় অগ্রগতি যুক্তরাষ্ট্রভিত্তিক বড় ব্র্যান্ড টমি হিলফিগারের পোশাক সরবরাহ করে টিইএএম গ্রুপ। গ্রুপের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক আব্দুল্লাহ হিল রাকিব সমকালকে জানান, গত কয়েক মাসে টমি হিলফিগারের কাছে পরিমাণে বেশি রপ্তানি আদেশ পাচ্ছেন তারা। তার মতে, চীন-যুক্তরাষ্ট্র দ্বন্দ্বের বাইরে কার্বন নিঃসরণ কমানোর পদক্ষেপ হিসেবে চীনে সপ্তাহে তিন দিন উৎপাদন বন্ধ রাখতে হচ্ছে। এতে চীনের উৎপাদনও আগের তুলনায় কম। বিজিএমইএর এই পরিচালক মনে করেন, চীনের এই পরিবর্তনের কারণে অনেক সুবিধা পেলেও কিছু অসুবিধাও আছে বাংলাদেশের।

পোশাক খাতে ওমিক্রনের ছায়া বাংলাদেশ পোশাক প্রস্তুতকারক ও রপ্তানিকারক সমিতির (বিজিএমইএ) সহ-সভাপতি শহীদুল্লাহ আজিম বলছিলেন, ওমিক্রনের কারণে এখন পর্যন্ত ক্রয়াদেশ বাতিল না হলেও আমরা শঙ্কিত। কারণ দ্রুত করোনা সংক্রমণ বাড়ছে। তিনি মানবজমিনকে বলেন, গত সোমবার যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে করোনার ইতিহাসে সবচেয়ে বেশি সংক্রমণ হয়েছে। এছাড়া ইউরেপের অন্য দেশেও দ্রুত সংক্রমণ ছড়িয়ে পড়ছে। এটা নিয়ে আমরা শঙ্কায় আছি, কারণ আমাদের বেশিরভাগ ক্রেতাই ইউরোপের। তাদের যদি চাহিদা না থাকে তাহলে তো আমরা তাদেরকে জোর করে দিতে পারবো না। তবে এখন পর্যন্ত ক্রয়াদেশ বাতিল হয়নি, কিন্তু ক্রয়াদেশ আর হচ্ছে না। ক্রেতাদের আগের মতো তৎপরতা এখন নেই।

FBCCI would like CTG port’s capacity increased As the economy recovers from the Covid, leading business leaders of the country have emphasized on increasing the capacity of Chittagong Port to cope with increasing export and import in the coming days. President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) Jasim Uddin made the remarks at the first meeting of the FBCCI Standing Committee on Ports and Shipping on Thursday afternoon. He said that Bangladesh will become a member of developed economies by 2041 as set by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the capacity and service of the Chittagong Port need to be improved like the developed countries.

জোয়ারের অপেক্ষায় কাটে ১২ ঘণ্টা শুধু জোয়ার-ভাটার কারণে একটি কনটেইনার জাহাজকে পণ্য নামানোর পরও ১০ থেকে ১২ ঘণ্টা চট্টগ্রাম বন্দর জেটিতে বাড়তি বসে থাকতে হয়। আমদানি পণ্য নামিয়ে এবং রপ্তানি পণ্য জাহাজীকরণের পরও শুধু জোয়ারের অপেক্ষায় এই অলস সময় জেটিতে বসে থাকে কনটেইনার জাহাজগুলো। এ ধরনের জাহাজের সংখ্যা বন্দরে আসা কনটেইনার জাহাজের অন্তত ১০ শতাংশ। চট্টগ্রাম বন্দরে জাহাজ আসা-যাওয়ার একটি চিত্র বিশ্লেষণ করতে গিয়ে এমন তথ্য পাওয়া গেছে।
