বিজিএমইএ, বিকেএমইএ ও বিজিএপিএমইএর যৌথ কমিটি গঠন সরবরাহ চেইনে সহযোগিতা বৃদ্ধি ও পারস্পরিক সুবিধা নিশ্চিত করতে যৌথ কমিটি গঠন করেছে বিজিএমইএ, বিকেএমইএ ও বিজিএপিএমইএ। সম্প্রতি বিজিএমইএ অফিসে সংগঠনগুলোর নেতাদের মধ্যে বৈঠকে এ কমিটি গঠন করা হয়। বিজিএমইএ সভাপতি ফারুক হাসানের সভাপতিত্বে সভায় বিজিএমইএর সহসভাপতি (অর্থ) খন্দকার রফিকুল ইসলাম, সহসভাপতি মো. নাসির উদ্দিন ও বিজিএপিএমইএর সভাপতি মোহাম্মদ মোয়াজ্জেম হোসেন মতি ও প্রথম সহসভাপতি মোহাম্মদ বেলাল উপস্থিত ছিলেন। মো. নাসির উদ্দিনের নেতৃত্বে ১১ সদস্যের কমিটি পোশাক প্রস্তুতকারক এবং আনুষঙ্গিক ও প্যাকেজিং প্রস্তুতকারকদের মধ্যে একটি সেতুবন্ধ হিসেবে কাজ করবে, যার উদ্দেশ্য হবে সহযোগিতার দ্বারা সংগঠনগুলোর মধ্যে ব্যবসায়িক সম্পর্ক আরো শক্তিশালী করা।

BGMEA for removing legal bar on back-to-back LCs for non-bonded exports The BGMEA has demanded speedy amendment to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) rules to approve raw material purchases under back-to-back LCs of readymade garment exporters who are not covered by bonds. In a letter sent by BGMEA President Faruque Hassan to the NBR chairman on January 13, he said the Ministry of Commerce has been requested to revoke the obligation of the exporters to have a general bond licence or special bond licence to open a back-to-back LC (Letter of Credit).

And this translates as good fortunes for Bangladeshi exporters. Agreeing with the findings, Md Shahidullah Azim, managing director of Classic Fashion, said garment export to the US markets at the end of the year may cross $8 billion as the growth was very high. "We are feeling the effect US retailers and brands are having through the high volume of export orders for garment items," said Faruque Hassan, president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association. "We have already received 30 per cent more work orders than what was estimated for the past six months," he said.

Textile millers hike yarn prices yet again Textile millers once again increased yarn prices by $0.20 per kilogramme citing a rise in rates in the global market as an excuse. To tackle this issue, apparel makers are switching their purchase source, moving towards imports because it costs them less. The price of per kg 30-count yarn rose by $0.20 to $4.9, which was $4.7 just a week ago, says data from BKMEA.

গাজীপুর সড়কের কাজ দ্রুত শেষ করার অনুরোধ বিজিএমইএ’র ঢাকা: ঢাকা-গাজীপুর মহাসড়কের কাজ দ্রুত গতিতে শেষ করার অনুরোধ জানিয়েছে পোশাক মালিকদের সংগঠন বিজিএমইএ। এই সড়ককে যত্রতত্র পার্কিং, অবৈধ দোকাপাট ও বাজার থেকে মুক্ত করতে প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থা নেওয়ার অনুরোধও জানিয়েছে সংগঠনটি। মঙ্গলবার (১৮ জানুয়ারি) সচিবালয়ে বিজিএমইএ’র একটি প্রতিনিধি দল সড়ক পরিবহন ও মহাসড়ক বিভাগের সচিব মো. নজরুল ইসলামের সঙ্গে সাক্ষাতে এ অনুরোধ জানায়। বৈঠকে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিজিএমইএ সভাপতি ফারুক হাসান, সংগঠনের সহসভাপতি শহিদউল্লাহ আজিম ও মো. নাসির উদ্দিন এবং ঢাকা চেম্বার অব কমার্স অ্যান্ড ইন্ডাস্ট্রির (ডিসিসিআই) সাবেক সভাপতি ও শাশা ডেনিমস লি.-এর ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক শামস মাহমুদ।

Bangladesh’s exports to India to grow record $2 billion by FY22: FBCCI Bangladesh's exports to the Indian markets are expected to reach $2 billion for the first time at the end of the current financial year as the demand for Bangladeshi products is increasing to the neighbouring country. The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) said this in a statement following a meeting between Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram K Doraiswami and FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin at the FBCCI office in Dhaka.

Garment, accessory makers form joint panel to boost apparel export The manufacturers of garment and its accessories formed a joint committee to expedite export of apparel items. The committee was formed by the leaders of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and Bangladesh Garments Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) to ensure better supply chain collaboration and mutual benefits.The committee was constituted during a meeting by the leaders of the associations at BGMEA office at Uttara in Dhaka on January 18.

Six ICDs soaking up 60pc of cargo volume An intense competition is ongoing among private inland container depots (ICDs) to see who can handle the most import and export cargoes, which is helping ease congestion at Chittagong Port by facilitating the quick clearance of shipments. At present, there are 19 private ICDs located in and around Chittagong city.

Reviving Dhakai Muslin: Moves on to raise footy corpus yield To revive Dhaka’s legendary Muslin fabric, the government has taken steps to boost the production of its key component, footy corpus cotton, in the country. Four places of the country will be specified for mass producing the cotton.According to the Bangladesh Handloom Board, currently Muslin fabric is produced using 12 handlooms in the country. In the second phase of the project, eight more handlooms will be added to boost production.
