BGMEA, ActionAid partner for better compliance, worker welfare Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and ActionAid Bangladesh (AAB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen compliance capacity, ensure human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD), and improve the quality of life for workers in the country’s ready-made garment (RMG) industry.The MoU, signed at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara on Tuesday, positions ActionAid Bangladesh as a strategic partner in implementing BGMEA’s Sustainable Strategic Vision 2030. BGMEA Senior Vice President Inamul Haq Khan signed on behalf of BGMEA, while AAB Country Director Farah Kabir represented ActionAid Bangladesh.Also present at the signing were BGMEA Vice President Md Rezwan Selim; Directors Nafis-Ud-Doula, Sheikh Hossain Muhammad Mustafiz, and Rumana Rashid; along with senior officials of ActionAid Bangladesh.

সাসটেইনেবিলিটি রিপোর্টিংয়ে বিজিএমইএর ধারাবাহিক সাফল্য বাংলাদেশের তৈরি পোশাক খাতের স্বচ্ছতা, জবাবদিহিতা এবং দায়িত্বশীল প্রবৃদ্ধির অগ্রযাত্রায় আরও একটি মাইলফলক অতিক্রম করলো বিজিএমইএ। বৈশ্বিক মানদণ্ড বজায় রেখে সংস্থাটি তাদের দ্বিতীয় ‘সাসটেইনেবিলিটি রিপোর্ট ২০২৩’ আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে প্রকাশ করেছে। ২০২০ সালে প্রকাশিত প্রথম সাসটেইনেবিলিটি রিপোর্টের ধারাবাহিকতায় এই দ্বিতীয় সংস্করণটি বাংলাদেশের পোশাকখাতের টেকসই উন্নয়নের দলিল। মঙ্গলবার উত্তরাস্থ বিজিএমইএ কমপ্লেক্সে আয়োজিত এক অনুষ্ঠানে প্রতিবেদনটি আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে উন্মোচন করেন বিজিএমইএ-র ভারপ্রাপ্ত সভাপতি সেলিম রহমান। এসময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিজিএমইএ-র সিনিয়র সহ-সভাপতি ইনামুল হক খান, সহ-সভাপতি রেজোয়ান সেলিম, সহ-সভাপতি (অর্থ) মিজানুর রহমান, সহ-সভাপতি শিহাব উদ্দোজা চৌধুরী, পরিচালক শাহ রাঈদ চৌধুরী, পরিচালক মোহাম্মদ আবদুস সালাম, পরিচালক শেখ হোসেন মোহাম্মদ মোস্তাফিজ, পরিচালক মোহাম্মদ সোহেল এবং বিজিএমইএ এর স্ট্যান্ডিং কমিটি অন সাসটেইনেবল এনার্জি এর চেয়ারম্যান সাইফুর রহমান (শাপু)।

BGMEA's attains continued success in sustainability reporting The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has achieved another milestone in advancing transparency, accountability and responsible growth in the country's readymade garment (RMG) sector by officially publishing its second Sustainability Report 2023 in line with global standards. The report was formally unveiled yesterday at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara by BGMEA Acting President Selim Rahman. BGMEA Senior Vice President Inamul Haq Khan, Vice President Md Rezwan Selim, Vice President (Finance) Mizanur Rahman, Vice President Md Shehab Udduza Chowdhury, Directors Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Mohammad Abdus Salam, Sheikh Hossain Muhammad Mustafiz, Mohammad Sohel, and Chairman of BGMEA Standing Committee on Sustainable Energy Saifur Rahman (Shapu) were present, among others, at the event.

ঢাকায় শুরু হচ্ছে ৪ দিনব্যাপী ডেনিম শো ঢাকায় হতে যাচ্ছে আন্তর্জাতিক ইয়ার্ন অ্যান্ড ফেব্রিক শো এবং ডেনিম শো-২০২৬। চারদিনের এই মেলা আগামী ২৮ জানুয়ারি ইন্টারন্যাশনাল কনভেনশন সিটি বসুন্ধরায় (আইসিসিবি) শুরু হবে। শেষ হবে ৩১ জানুয়ারি। ২৫০টির বেশি বুথ নিয়ে ১৫টিরও অধিক দেশের প্রায় ২৩০টি কোম্পানি এই মেলায় অংশ নিচ্ছে। মঙ্গলবার (১৩ জানুয়ারি) রাজধানীর প্যান প্যাসিফিক সোনারগাঁও হোটেলে সংবাদ সম্মেলনে মেলা আয়োজনের এ তথ্য জানানো হয়। কনফারেন্স অ্যান্ড এক্সিবিশন ম্যানেজমেন্ট সার্ভিসেস (সেমস-গ্লোবাল ইউএসএ) এবং দ্যা সাব-কাউন্সিল অব টেক্সটাইল ইন্ডাস্ট্রি, চায়না কাউন্সিল ফর দ্যা প্রমোশন অফ ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ট্রেড (সিসিপিআইটি টেক্স চায়না) যৌথভাবে এই মেলার আয়োজন করেছে।

Hanoi to overtake Dhaka as largest cotton importer: USDA Bangladesh is projected to import 8 million bales of cotton in the 2025-26 marketing year (MY26), a slight decrease from the previous year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). This slowdown follows five consecutive months of negative growth in the country’s readymade garment (RMG) exports. While Bangladesh has recently held the title of the world’s top cotton importer, the latest forecast suggests it may soon be overtaken by Vietnam.According to recently published data by USDA titled ‘Cotton: World Markets and Trade’, the cotton consumption of Bangladesh is expected to remain the same at 8 million, which was forecast in December of last year. However, the consumption forecast slightly declined from 8.1 million bales, as forecast in November and August of 2025.
