However, they cautioned that lingering ambiguities in several provisions could create confusion and potentially fuel unrest if not addressed promptly. In separate reactions, trade bodies welcomed the amendment but stressed that a lack of clarity in certain areas may lead to misinterpretation at the factory level, which could strain relations between workers and employers over time.Talking to The Financial Express, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu praised the government's timely action, noting that the law applies across all industries. However, he added that while the amendment may benefit some sectors, others could face challenges due to unclear provisions. He said several sections require further clarification to prevent confusion among both workers and employers, warning that unresolved issues could disrupt workplace harmony.

সংকটপূর্ণ সময় পার করছে দেশের তৈরি পোশাক খাত হঠাৎ করে আমাদের পোশাকের বাজারে ধাক্কার বিষয়ে বিজিএমইএ সভাপতি মাহমুদ হাসান খান শেয়ার বিজকে বলেন, মূলত তিনটি কারণে আমাদের তৈরি পোশাক রপ্তারি বাজারে কিছুটা ধাক্কা লেগেছে। এর মধ্যে অন্যতম হলো, আমাদের রপ্তানির বড় বাজার যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের বাজারে নতুন ট্যারিফ বসানো। এতে সেখানার ক্রেতাদের ক্রয় ক্ষমতা কিছুটা কমে গেছে, যার প্রভাব পড়েছে আমাদের বিক্রিতে। দ্বিতীয়ত, গত ১২ ফেব্রুয়ারি বাংলাদেশে জাতীয় নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। এই নির্বাচনের ফলেও আমাদের পোশাক রপ্তানিতে কিছুটা প্রভাব পড়েছে। তৃতীয়ত, বিগত অন্তর্বর্তী সরকারের সময়ে দেশে রাজনৈতিক অনিশ্চিত একটা পরিস্থিতি থাকায় আমাদের অনেক বায়ার প্রতিবেশী ভারত ও চায়না চলে গেছে, যে কারণে আমাদের রপ্তানি বাজার কিছুটা নেগেটিভ হয়েছে। তবে চলতি অর্থবছরে শেষের দিকে রপ্তানি আয় কমে গেলেও বিজিএমইএ সভাপতি আশাপ্রকাশ করেন, যেহেতু দেশে এখন একটি বিনিয়োগ বান্ধব রাজনৈতিক সরকার এসেছে সেকারণে আবারও পোশাক রপ্তানি বৃদ্ধি পাবে। তবে সামপ্রতিক ইরান- ইসরায়েল যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের যুদ্ধের কারণে পোশাক রপ্তানি থেকে বিশ্বের সব রপ্তানিকারক দেশেরই আয় কমতে পারে।

BGMEA defends RMG growth amid US probe Bangladesh's garment industry has defended its growth model amid a US investigation, arguing that its expansion reflects global demand rather than excess capacity or market distortion. Industry leaders say the sector remains too small globally to influence prices or disrupt trade. Citing data from the Export Promotion Bureau, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan noted in the position paper that Bangladesh's garment exports reached US$39.3 billion in fiscal year 2024-25, up from US$25.5 billion in 2014-15. Bangladesh's RMG exports have followed a steady and gradual growth trajectory, without any sudden or policy-driven surge that could be interpreted as excess production, the BGMEA said.
