নতুন বিনিয়োগের পথ রুদ্ধ হবে প্রস্তাবিত বাজেট শিল্প ও বিনিয়োগের জন্য ইতিবাচক নয়, এতে দেখা গেছে জ্বালানি খাতে বরাদ্দ কমানো হয়েছে। ফলে বিদ্যমান কারখানাগুলো টিকে থাকা কঠিন হয়ে পড়বে। এ ছাড়া শিল্পের কর অব্যাহতি সুবিধা কমানোয় নতুন বিনিয়োগের পথ সংকুচিত হবে বলে মনে করেন বিজিএমইএ নির্বাচনে বিজয়ী ফোরামের প্যানেল লিডার মাহমুদ হাসান খান বাবু।তবে এলএনজি আমদানিতে আমদানি পর্যায়ে ভ্যাট কমানো হয়েছে।গ্যাস-বিদ্যুত্সংকটের এই সময় সাধুবাদ পাওয়ার যোগ্য। গতকাল মঙ্গলবার বাজেটের ওপর প্রতিক্রিয়ায় তিনি কালের কণ্ঠকে এসব কথা বলেন।

Merchandise export earnings see double-digit growth in May The country's single-month merchandise-export earnings in May 2025 witnessed a double-digit growth of 11.45 per cent year on year to fetch US$4.73 billion due to the sustained performance of ready-made garment industry. Bangladesh earned $4.25 billion in May 2024, according to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data released on Tuesday.When asked, Mahmud Hasan Khan, managing director of Rising Group, said the performance could be higher if there was no gas supply disruption, especially in May. He is also the panel leader of the Forum that won the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) biennial election for the 2025-27 term with the highest 31 posts of director out of 35. Mr Khan said the overall work orders situation is good and backward linkage suppliers have affected due to the disruption causing some delays in shipments.

Anwar-ul-Alam Chowdhury (Pervez), president of the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI), suggested that the budget seems structured according to the IMF's formula. "But if we strictly follow IMF prescriptions, our industries will suffer."

Exports in May highest in 23 months Bangladesh recorded $4.73 billion in exports in May, the highest in at least 23 months, owing to increased shipments of manufactured commodities, especially apparel, ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha festival to be celebrated on Saturday. Mahmud Hasan Khan, president-elect of the BGMEA, said the situation regarding work orders was good. "This is why exports showed better performance. Also, some work orders that were suspended were reinstated recently. কলমবিরতি-ঈদের ছুটিতে বাড়তি মাশুলের ফাঁদে ব্যবসায়ীরা কাস্টমসের টানা ১২ দিনের কলম ও কর্মবিরতির পর চলতি সপ্তাহ থেকে ১০ দিনের বড় ছুটিতে পড়ছে দেশ। পণ্য খালাস বিলম্বিত হয়ে বহির্নোঙরে বাড়ছে পণ্যবোঝাই জাহাজের সারি। এতে বহির্নোঙরে অপেক্ষমাণ জাহাজের জরিমানা ও বন্দর অভ্যন্তরে কনটেইনারের স্টোর রেন্টের অতিরিক্ত মাশুল গুনতে হচ্ছে ব্যবসায়ীদের।ব্যবসায়ীরা বলছেন, ১৪ মে থেকে ১৪ জুন পর্যন্ত ৩১ দিন সময়ের মধ্যে ব্যবসায়ীরা মাত্র সাত দিন স্বাভাবিক কর্মদিবস পেয়েছেন। যে সময়ের মধ্যে ব্যাংকিং, কাস্টমস শুল্কায়ন, আমদানি করা কাঁচামাল ও পণ্য খালাস এবং রপ্তানিপণ্য জাহাজীকরণের নানান প্রক্রিয়াগত জটিলতা কাটানো দুঃসাধ্য। এতে বন্দরের ডেমারেজ চার্জের বোঝাসহ বড় অঙ্কের অপারেশনাল ব্যয়ভার বহন করতে হচ্ছে বেসরকারিখাতের উদ্যোক্তা ও ব্যবসায়ীদেরই। ফলে আর্থিক ক্ষতির খড়্গ পড়ছে ব্যবসায়ীদের ঘাড়ে।
