The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has been honoured for its contribution to the development of the apparel and textile industry.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan received the crest from Honorable Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi (Birpatik) MP during a program which was held marking the National Textile Day 2021 in Dhaka on December 4.
Mirza Azam MP, Chairman of Standing Committee on Ministry of Textiles and Jute, attended the program as special guest.
In his address, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan said the RMG industry has been acting as a catalyst for socio-economic development of Bangladesh and has more to contribute to building prosperous Bangladesh.
He said the next phase of Bangladesh’s economic growth will hugely depend on the industrial sector where the apparel industry would play the pivotal role.
“BGMEA is making all-out efforts to explore every possible avenue for the garment sector of Bangladesh. The industry is increasingly focusing on widening product rage, especially high value-added and non-cotton apparels, market diversification, re-skilling, up-skilling, technological upgradation and innovation in product development and process optimization,” Faruque Hassan said.
