BGMEA Director calls for recognizing green initiatives of Bangladeshi suppliers

Being one of the lowest carbon emitting countries in the world, Bangladesh is taking lead in green industrialization with the highest number of green garment factories in the world, said BGMEA Director Asif Ibrahim.

“Our factories are now proactively working to ensure environmental sustainability. The vision of the industry is very precise and clear as we want to grow as the most sustainable destination of global apparel sourcing,” he said while addressing the Annual Event of PaCT-II held in Dhaka on 11 February.

He also said that green initiatives by Bangladeshi suppliers must be recognized by better prices by the brands.

Danish Ambassador Winnie Estrup Petersen, Dutch Ambassador Harry Verweij, Country Manager, IFC Wendy Werner, and PaCT Program Manager Nishat Chowdhury, among others, attended the program.
