A productive meeting was held yesterday on 31 March 2026 between the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and HSBC to further enhance the sustained growth and global competitiveness of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) industry.
Both sides engaged in detailed discussions on various strategic areas of potential collaboration to support the industry’s development. Key focus areas included:
• Attracting new global apparel buyers to Bangladesh
• Exploring new and emerging export markets
• Promoting a positive image of Bangladesh through branding
• Emphasizing high-value apparel production and diversification of export-oriented sectors
The meeting also highlighted the importance of more effectively showcasing Bangladesh’s achievements in green factories and environmentally sustainable production to international buyers, aiming to strengthen the confidence of existing buyers while attracting new ones.
The collaboration is expected to play a significant role in creating opportunities in new export markets, boosting Bangladesh’s apparel exports globally, and reinforcing the country’s position as a preferred sourcing destination.
The BGMEA delegation was led by President Mahmud Hasan Khan. Also present were Senior Vice President Inamul Haq Khan (Bablu), Vice President (Finance) Mijanur Rahman, Vice President Md. Shehab Udduza Chowdhury, and Director Shah Rayeed Chowdhury.
The HSBC delegation was led by Ashfaquor Rahman, Head of Global Apparel Supply Chain, Corporate and Institutional Banking. He was accompanied by Ashiqul Alam, Head of Performance, Global Chief Operating Office; Saiful M Islam, RM Team Lead; Fazle Akhter Snehal, Senior Relationship Manager; Samin Mahmud, Relationship Manager; and Ishrat Jahan Ikra, RM Support Team Lead, Corporate and Institutional Banking.
