With the aim of developing a skilled workforce to further strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) industry, BGMEA, in collaboration with the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP), organized a Certificate Award Ceremony & Career Counselling following the successful completion of a three-month training program on Social Compliance and Environmental Management.

The program was held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, 2 August 2026, at the Mahabub Ali Hall of the BGMEA Building in Chattogram. During the ceremony, certificates were formally awarded to 150 trainees who successfully completed the training program. A productive career counselling session was also conducted to enhance participants’ employability by aligning their skills with the current and future needs of the apparel industry.

The event was attended by BGMEA Vice President Md. Shehab Udduza Chowdhury as the Chief Guest. BGMEA Director Majumder Arifur Rahman attended as the Chair and Keynote Speaker. Special Guests included BGMEA Director and Director-in-Charge of the Standing Committee on NGO Affairs Mohammad Shaif Ullah Mansur, along with the committee’s Co-Chairman and members.

In his address, Chief Guest Md. Shehab Udduza Chowdhury said, “A skilled workforce is one of the key driving forces behind the sustainable growth of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment industry and its continued competitiveness in the global market. The knowledge and skills gained through this training should be effectively applied in the workplace to contribute to the further development of the country’s apparel sector.”

Chair and Keynote Speaker Majumder Arifur Rahman stated, “Initiatives like the BGMEA–SICIP program play a significant role not only in developing a skilled workforce for the industry but also in creating greater employment opportunities for young people. Through industry-driven training and skills development, Bangladesh’s RMG industry will become stronger, more modern, and better positioned to compete in the international market.”

Special Guest Mohammad Shaif Ullah Mansur urged the trainees to utilize their newly acquired skills effectively and contribute actively to the country’s economic development.

Special Guest and Co-Chairman of the committee Wadud Mohammad Chowdhury praised the role of the BGMEA–SICIP program in developing skilled human resources for the RMG sector. He emphasized that such trained professionals are essential for the continued growth and global competitiveness of Bangladesh’s leading export-oriented industry.

Munir Chowdhury, Chief Coordinator of the BGMEA–SICIP Project, presented an overview of the project’s activities, achievements, and future plans.

The program was moderated by Mohammad Ashfaqur Rahman Rajib, Job Placement and Database Coordinator of BGMEA–SICIP, while overall coordination was managed by Nazmul Alam Palash, Coordinator (Finance).

The organizers stated that similar initiatives will continue in the future to develop industry-ready skilled human resources, expand employment opportunities, and support the sustainable growth of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment industry.
