A meeting between BGMEA and a delegation from Jhpiego Bangladesh was held to explore potential areas of collaboration to improve the health, well-being and productivity of garment workers. The meeting was held on 30 September 2026 at the BGMEA.
BGMEA Director Fahima Akhter, Director Rumana Rashid and former Director Md. Nazrul Islam discussed various areas of potential collaboration with the Jhpiego Bangladesh delegation. The delegation later met with BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan.
During the meeting, the relationship between garment workers’ health and well-being and workplace productivity was discussed, along with Jhpiego’s experience in implementing various programmes and conducting research in this sector. Both sides also exchanged views on potential areas of collaboration to further strengthen worker-centred health initiatives.
Representing Jhpiego Bangladesh were Samiha Yunus, Team Lead – Surveillance; Gazi Md. Rezaul Karim, Programme Director – SRHR; Md. Afzal Hossain, Programme Specialist; and Farzana Khan, Private Sector Engagement Manager.
Both sides emphasized the importance of undertaking effective initiatives for workers’ health and well-being to build a healthier workforce, more productive workplaces and resilient factory communities.
