
The 45th meeting of the Advisory Committee of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) was recently held at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital, organized jointly by the NBR and the FBCCI.
At the meeting, BGMEA Administrator Mr. Anwar Hossain provided an overview of the overall status of the ready-made garment industry and emphasized the need for various policy supports to propel the development of this vital sector and maintain its competitive edge in the global market.
He called for government policy supports, including resolving complexities in imports under the revolving method based on FOC, VAT exemptions for bonded companies receiving services from non-bonded companies, resolving HS Code-related complications, and VAT exemption for the production of recycled fiber.
Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Adviser to the Ministry of Finance attended the meeting as chief guest. Sheikh Bashiruddin, Adviser to the Ministry of Commerce; and Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), along with leaders from various business organizations also attended the meeting chaired by NBR Chairman Md. Abdur Rahman Khan.
