Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) signed a MoU with Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) on January 3 to build ‘Chittagong Apparel Zone’ atKalurghatin the port city.
BGMEA President Md. Siddiqur Rahman and CCC Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin signed the MoU at the GEC Convention Hall in Chittagong on behalf of their respective organizations while Labour and Employment Secretary MikailShipar was present.
The zone will house garment factories with modern facilities. There will be 11 buildings in the planned Apparel Zone and each building will be of seven-storey one.
The planned Chittagong Apparel Zone will help BGMEA members to avail of the opportunity in relocating their vulnerable factories with modern facilities. BGMEA members will provide funds for the project while the CCC will implement it.
BGMEA First Vice President Moinuddin Ahmed (Mintu),Vice President (Finance) Mohammed Nasir, Vice President FerdousPervesBivon and Vice President Md. Ferdous were also present at the MoU signing ceremony.
