BGMEA Hands Over Relief Materials for Flood-Affected People in Chattogram

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has extended its support to people affected by the devastating floods caused by continuous rainfall and hill torrents in Chattogram.

On Tuesday, 14 July 2026, BGMEA formally handed over 200 bags of relief materials to Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali to facilitate relief distribution among flood-affected communities.

The relief materials were handed over by BGMEA Acting Vice President Enamul Aziz Chowdhury, BGMEA Director and Former First Vice President S. M. Abu Tayyab, Former BGMEA Director Khandaker Belayet Hossain, and Chairmen of BGMEA Standing Committees Wadud Mohammad Chowdhury, Kazi Md. Shafiqul Islam (Titu), and Arshad-ur-Rahman. Senior officials from Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) and BGMEA were also present at the handover ceremony.

Receiving the relief materials, CMP Commissioner Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali highly appreciated BGMEA's humanitarian initiative and assured that the relief materials would be distributed promptly, transparently, and in an orderly manner to flood-affected families.

BGMEA leaders stated that standing beside vulnerable people during times of disaster is the association's moral and social responsibility. They also announced that, as part of the continuation of this humanitarian initiative, BGMEA would directly distribute relief materials among flood-affected families in Banshkhali, Satkania, and other affected areas of Chattogram on 15 July 2026.
