The first-ever “BGMEA Open Golf Tournament 2026,” organized by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), was successfully held on Saturday (25 April), at Jolshiri Golf Club in Purbachal, near Dhaka, in a vibrant and festive atmosphere.

With the objective of strengthening mutual relationships and solidarity among local and international stakeholders of the apparel industry, the current Board of Directors undertook this exceptional initiative. The tournament was successfully organized under the special initiative and overall supervision of Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Director in Charge of the BGMEA Sports Committee, along with Directors Nafis-Ud-Doula and Joarder Mohammed Hosne Quamar Alam.

BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan attended the event as the Chief Guest and handed over prizes to the winning golfers. In his speech, he stated that this initiative should not be viewed merely as a golf tournament; rather, it is a unique celebration of long-standing mutual trust, respect, and enduring friendship among valued brand partners, buyers, diplomats, and BGMEA members. He added that the bond of harmony built through the game will further strengthen unity within the industry and enhance Bangladesh’s position in global competition.

More than 80 golfers, including both local and international players, participated in the tournament. Among the participants were diplomats from various embassies in Bangladesh, senior representatives of international brands, and general members of BGMEA. A notable aspect of the event was that BGMEA Board Directors also enthusiastically participated in the competition as players.

Among the BGMEA Board members present at the event were Directors Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Faisal Samad, Mohammed Abdus Salam, Nafis-Ud-Doula, Majumdar Arifur Rahman, Joarder Mohammed Hosne Quamar Alam, Mohammed Sohel, and Md. M. Mohiuddin Chowdhury.

Tournament Results:

Demonstrating outstanding performance, A.M. Mahmudur Rahman, Chairman of the BGMEA Apparel Club Committee and of Friends Stylewear Limited, emerged as the Champion, while Shafiqul Islam of Arrival Fashion Limited secured the position of Runner-up. Among the female golfers, Mrs. HyaeJang of Dada Dhaka Limited achieved the title of Ladies Winner. S.M. Nishat Bin Zia Rumman of Amazing Fashion Limited was awarded Best Gross.

In other categories, Niaz Ahmed Bhuiyan of Chattogram Fashion Specialized Textiles Limited won the Longest Drive, and Salah Uddin Ahmed (Shamim) of IFS Texwear Private Limited received the Nearest to the Pin award.

“An attractive raffle draw was held after the game, where Angelo Lee Nage of A&E won the first prize. The welcome speech at the event was delivered by BGMEA Director Mohammed Abdus Salam.”
