On the 13th anniversary of the Rana Plaza tragedy in Savar, today, under the leadership of BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan, the Board of Directors of the association paid deep tribute to the deceased workers by laying wreaths on 24 April 2026 at Jurain Graveyard. Following the tribute, they participated in a special prayer seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the victims.

Among the members of the BGMEA Board present at the observance were Senior Vice President Inamul Haq Khan, Vice President Md. Rezwan Selim, Vice President Md. Shehab Udduza Chowdhury, Director Nafis-Ud-Doula, and Director Mohammed Sohel. General members and senior officials of BGMEA were also present.

Speaking to journalists after the prayer, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan stated that by applying the lessons learned from that tragic incident, the ready-made garment sector of Bangladesh has undergone fundamental and transformative changes over the years. Today, the industry is recognized globally as a role model for workplace safety. He further emphasized that they continue to work tirelessly to ensure the highest level of safety for workers in their workplaces.
