BGMEA President calls upon workers, owners to continue working unitedly to take RMG industry forward

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan has said both workers and owners will have to remain united and work in a spirit of collaboration in order to take up emerging challenges and turn them into opportunities for the RMG industry of Bangladesh.

The RMG industry of Bangladesh is going through a very important time when enormous opportunities on one side and many challenges are on the other side, he said.

Concerted efforts would help the industry to strengthen its standing in the changing business landscape, he added.

Faruque Hassan made remarks while addressing an Iftar Mahfil organized by BGMEA for the leaders of garment workers’ organizations in Radisson Blu in Dhaka on April 5.

This is the first iftar party organized by BGMEA after two years of the Covid-19 pandemic.

While exchanging views with the labour leaders, Faruque Hassan said the RMG industry of Bangladesh will need to get prepared to address challenges in the face of the technological advancements and changes in business models and production methods.

Factory owners will have to adapt to the newer methods of production while garment workers will also have to adapt their skill sets to remain competitive in the global apparel export market, he said.

Years of hard work and dedication of garment workers and owners have earned Bangladesh RMG industry a prestigious position in the world, he said.

They would have to remain united to maintain the momentum, he said adding that if the industry performs well, it will benefit the workers, owners and the country as a whole.
