BGMEA President Faruque Hassan met with the Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi (Birpatik), MP at the ministry on June 29.

They had discussion on different issues including opportunities and means to increase value addition in the RMG sector through the usage of yarn and fabrics produced by local textiles mills.

They further discussed the potential of making fabrics from jute and use it in garment production to meet the rising demand for eco-friendly apparel in the global market.

The discussion also covered how the government and the industries can collectively work to enlighten the image of the apparel industry of Bangladesh globally.

Textiles and Jute Secretary Md. Abdul Mannan, BGMEA Senior Vice President SM Mannan (Kochi), Vice President (Finance) Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, Vice President Md. Nasir Uddin, and Secretary General of BGMEA Faizur Rahman were also present at the meeting.
