Today a delegation from Uzbekistan has paid a visit to BGMEA and held a meeting with its leaders.
First Deputy Minister of Economy, Uzbekistan Mubin Mirzaev led the 13-member Uzbek delegation while BGMEA President Md. Siddiqur Rahman represented BGMEA at the meeting which was also attended by BGMEA Vice President (Finance) Mohmmed Nasir and Vice President Mahmud Hasan Khan (Babu), BGMEA Directors Md. Ashikur Rahman (Tuhin) and Md. Atiqul Karim Khan.
At the meeting both sides discussed issues related to bilateral trade and investment, especially in the garment and textile sectors.
Terming Uzbekistan a long-standing friend of Bangladesh, BGMEA President Md. Siddiqur Rahman said that their there is potential of collaboration between both countries in terms of mutual trade development.
He gave an overview of the RMG industry of Bangladesh, including its potentials of growth, and urged Uzbekistan to import apparel from the country. He also called upon the Uzbekistani businessmen to invest in Bangladesh, especially in the textile sector.
First Deputy Minister of Economy, Uzbekistan Mubin called on Bangladeshi entrepreneurs for making mutual investment in Uzbekistan, saying that Uzbekistan provides free land and has electricity and gas at lower rates, and other infrastructural facilities to investors.
