BGMEA president, Dr. Rubana Huq and director, Rizwan Selim visited the scene within hours of the incident at 4pm.

 

The fire had broken out during lunch break. Hence, there were no workers inside the factory. The fire was brought under control after a five-hour operation with eight fire-fighting units.

 

The fire initiated on the fifth floor of the 10-storey building at around 2pm, according to fire officials. Initially they suspected that a short circuit had triggered the fire.

 

Some minor casualties were reported; most of them were from those who were helping to put the fire out. However, the cause of the break out or the loss has not yet been estimated by Islam garments.
