On 1 July 2026, BGMEA held a strategic meeting with the ILO to discuss key priorities for enhancing the competitiveness of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment sector through improved ease of doing business and addressing the cost of doing business.

The meeting was attended by BGMEA Senior Vice President Mr. Inamul Haq Khan and facilitated by Mr. Nafis Ud Doula, Director, BGMEA, and Mr. ANM Saifuddin, former Director of BGMEA and ILO Focal Point, with participation from the BGMEA Labour Department and Responsible Business Hub.

Representing the ILO were Ms. Alena Tansey, Programme Manager, Ms. Chayanich Thamparipattra, Project Technical Officer, Trade for Decent Work Project, along with the Better Work team.

The discussion focused on identifying practical strategies to improve the business environment while promoting sustainable growth, decent work, and long-term competitiveness of Bangladesh’s RMG industry through continued collaboration between BGMEA and the ILO.
