BGMEA organized a press conference on June 24 to brief the media on the overall situation of the RMG industry ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
“100% of the garment factories have paid festival bonus to their workers while 98% have paid salaries for the month of June, and the rest will complete the payment by today,” BGMEA President Md. Siddiqur Rahman informed the press.
BGMEA Senior Vice President Faruque Hassan, Vice President SM Mannan (Kochi), and Vice President (Finance) Mohammed Nasir were also present at the press conference.
The BGMEA President thanked all, including the RMG entrepreneurs, for timely making payments to the workers. He also extended his thanks to the government for taking necessary steps, including keeping banks and custom houses open during holidays, to facilitate RMG exports.
