The Independence Medal (Independence Memorial Honour) 2026 has been awarded to the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society in recognition of its significant contribution to social service.

On behalf of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, the honour was received by Mohammed Abdus Salam, Vice Chairman of the Chattogram City Unit of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and Director of BGMEA.

A total of eight individuals and three organizations were awarded the Independence Medal in recognition of their contributions in various fields, under the initiative of the Chattogram City Corporation.

The award was officially presented on 18 April 2026 at the closing ceremony of a book fair held at the gymnasium premises of the Chattogram District Stadium.
