Director Asif Ibrahim addresses workshop on Driving Sustainable Change

BGMEA Director Asif Ibrahim on Wednesday spoke at a workshop on Driving Sustainable Change organized by Better Work programme of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
The director observed that the good practices explained by the elected Worker's Participation Committee (WPC) members of Charka Textiles are good examples that can be scaled up.
He also opined that Better Work can help portray the new labour narrative of Bangladesh globally.
“Equity of brands is equally important to the equity of manufacturers for scaling up the good practices,” said Asif Ibrahim.
Better Work is a unique partnership programme of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) uniting the expertise of the ILO in labour standards with that of the IFC in private sector development.
As one of the most recent of Better Work programmes, Better Work Bangladesh has been collaborating with workers, employers and government to improve working conditions and boost the competitiveness of the garment industry since late 2014.
