Garment workers and meritorious children receive financial assistance for Central Fund

Garment workers were provided with financial assistance for their medical treatment and meritorious children of apparel workers were given stipends from the Central Fund created under the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Honorable State Minister for Labour and Employment Md. Mujibul Haque, MP handed over cheques to 57 garment workers and stipends to 77 students in the program organized by the Ministry of Labour and Employment at BGMEA Complex on 14 November 2018.
BGMEA President Md. Siddiqur Rahman presided over the cheque giving ceremony.
BKMEA President AKM Salim Osman, MP, Labour Secretary Afroza Kahn, BGMEA Vice President (Finance) Mohammed Nasir, Director General of Bangladesh Workers' Welfare Foundation Dr. AMM Anisul Awal, and First Vice President of BKMEA Mansoor Ahmed were present at the program.
Garment factories are contributing 0.03% of their export value to the central fund to be used for workers’ welfare purposes. The contribution of the RMG sector to fund was US$10 million last year. The fund’s amount will increase in proportion to the growth of the apparel industry.
