Golda Myra Roma, Senior Project Manager at International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), paid a courtesy visit to BGMEA President Faruque Hassan at BGMEA Complex on October 11.
ICMPD Country Coordinator for Bangladesh Mohammad Ikram Hossain was also present on the occasion.
They had discussions about the current situation of Bangladesh’s RMG industry and future priorities of the sector for sustainable growth.
BGMEA President Furuque Hassan gave them an overview of how the garment industry has been making significant contributions to the economic development of Bangladesh, especially through export earnings and employment generation for millions of people in the country.
They discussed how Bangladeshi migrant workers, who return home from abroad for various reasons, could be employed in the RMG industry as they often struggle to find employment after coming back to Bangladesh.
They also talked about how these returning migrant workers could be send abroad by making them skilled with necessary trainings.
Faruque Hassan invited them to the Made in Bangladesh Week which will be organized by BGMEA on November 12-18 this year to showcase the prospects and strengths of the RMG industry and brand Bangladesh.
