A delegation from Jiangsu Soho Holdings Group Co. Ltd visited the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) on April 24 to discuss potential collaborations and investment opportunities in the textile and apparel sector.
Led by Zhou Yong, Chairman of Jiangsu Soho Holdings Group Co. Ltd, the delegation included Li Yanzhou, General Manager of Jiangsu Soho Holdings Co. Ltd; Yu Tangmao, Chairman of Jiangsu Soho Apperals Co. Ltd; Wang Yile, Sales Manager of High Hope Zhongtian Corporation; Calvin Ngan, President of Overseas Chinese Association in Bangladesh; and Andy Chen, Deputy President of Overseas Chinese Association in Bangladesh.
The BGMEA side was headed by Senior Vice President Khandoker Rafiqul Islam and included Vice President Md. (Finance) Nasir Uddin, and Vice President Abdullah Hil Rakib, Directors Mohammad Sohel Sadat, Mesbah Uddin Khan, Shams Mahmud, Md. Shahadat Hossain, Md. Jakir Hossain, and Md. Nurul Islam.
The BGMEA leaders provided an insightful overview of Bangladesh’s thriving apparel industry, underscoring its notable transition towards high-value garments, particularly apparels made from man-made fibers.
They emphasized the promising investment opportunities within Bangladesh, particularly within the high-end textile sector and its associated backward linkage industries.
As the demand for man-made fibers continues to rise in Bangladesh, the BGMEA leaders highlighted the mutual benefits that Chinese investment in this sector would bring.
They emphasized that establishing man-made fiber-based textile facilities within Bangladesh would not only reduce costs and lead times but also align with the growing market demand.
The BGMEA leaders underscored the importance of investment in textile technologies and the recycling industry, highlighting Bangladesh’s focus on enhancing its capabilities in garment and textile recycling.
They expressed interest in the exchange of knowledge and technical expertise with the support of Jiangsu Soho Holdings Group to enhance the capabilities of Bangladeshi companies.
