Speakers at a job fair called upon all concerned to provide employment facilities for persons with disability at their institutions so that they can be self-dependent and lead a decent life in the society.
“Persons with disability are leading an inhuman life in our society. Access to employment can mitigate their sufferings, “ Abdus Salam Murshedy, president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) said this at a daylong job fair aimed at providing employment facilities for persons with disability was at BGMEA Bhaban at city’s Karwan Bazar on Sunday.
Centre for Services and Information on Disability (CSID), a NGO working for establishing rights of disabled people, in association with BGMEA organised the event.
A discussion was also held on the occasion. Nurul Haque, secretary of labour and employment ministry, attended the discussion as chief guest.
Owners of government and private organisations and representatives from different NGOs and corporate sectors were present at the fair.
