The protesting officers and employees of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) have withdrawn their ‘complete shutdown’ program. It is noteworthy that last Saturday, a joint press conference was held by the BGMEA President along with leaders of the country’s top local trade organizations, urging the government and relevant authorities to quickly resolve the NBR crisis.
Today, Sunday, the BGMEA President and business leaders held several meetings throughout the day with the government and concerned parties to resolve the NBR issue and keep industries and factories operational. As a result, the deadlock has been resolved.
Business leaders have made a strong appeal to all stakeholders to refrain from adopting any suicidal programs that could hold the industry and economy hostage in the future, for the sake of sustaining the country’s economic momentum.
