SAF: Stakeholders discuss impact of purchasing practices

 

Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE) has organized a roundtable discussion on how purchasing practices can impact the working conditions in the garment sector on November 4, 2019, on the eve of the second Sustainable Apparel Forum starting from November 5, in the capital.

As a continuation of the first Sustainable Apparel Forum (SAF), Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE) along with Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) will jointly organize the second edition of SAF this year.

The objective of the forum is to facilitate a meaningful exchange of knowledge to demystify issues surrounding sustainability for the benefit of textile and apparel supply chain in Bangladesh.

The Embassy of Netherlands in Bangladesh hosted the discussion chaired by Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) Executive Director Dr. Debapriya Bhattacharya.

Among others, Dutch Ambassador H.E. Harry Verweij was present at the event.

Besides, important stakeholders from The International Labour Organization (ILO), Fair Wear Foundation, C&A Foundation and H&M were also present.

As representatives of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Directors Miran Ali and Mohiuddin Rubel also attended the event.
