Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Director of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), represented BGMEA at the Board Meeting of the STAR Network held on 13 August 2026 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The meeting, attended by Board Members representing STAR’s member associations, discussed the network’s implementation progress, strategic priorities, regional cooperation and future areas of collaboration.

Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, who also serves as a Board Member of the STAR Network, delivered an insightful presentation providing an overview of the evolving global trade and industrial landscape, with a special focus on Bangladesh’s ready-made garment industry.

In his presentation, he highlighted recent positive developments in Bangladesh, including post-election policy initiatives and a business-friendly approach aimed at facilitating industrial growth through improved logistics and ease of doing business.

He also highlighted BGMEA’s continued efforts towards sustainability and decarbonisation, reflecting the Bangladesh apparel industry’s commitment to responsible manufacturing and its transition towards a greener and more sustainable future.

The STAR Network (Sustainable Textiles of the Asian Region) is an alliance of garment producer associations from Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Myanmar, Pakistan and Vietnam, working together to promote sustainability, innovation and responsible growth in the textile and apparel industry. BGMEA is a member of the network.
